Mission:

The primary objective of the Secretary is to be the record keeper for the Society.  The secretary holds a voting position on the Loveland Photographic Society (LPS) Board of Directors and should make every effort to attend all board meetings.

Basic Duties:

The primary responsibilities of the secretary are preparing the agenda for board meetings and keeping minutes of the board meetings.  Agenda items are solicited from board members and chairs prior to each board meeting and the agenda is emailed to the board in advance of the meeting.  Minutes are kept of each meeting and emailed to the board for approval.

Other duties include:

·       Compiling any records that are presented to the board

·       Corresponding with outside organizations when necessary

Time Commitment:

There is no set time commitment.  It is generally acknowledged that the Secretary will attend all general meetings and all board meetings whenever possible.  The Vice President will assume these duties whenever the Secretary is unavailable.

Benefits:

Good record keeping will help the Society track the benefits of Board decisions to better plan for the future.  Personal benefits include getting to know other members while furthering personal interests in the field of photography.
